Surface Capacitive Touch Screen
for touch applications demanding harsh outdoor use |

Our premium capacitive touch panel offers outstanding accuracy, optics and
durability that exceeds current market standards. The Touch panel gives extraordinary
touch accuracy. The super slim border design allows better integration for new
generation flat panel displays. The panel is of the best optical quality in the industry.
With unprecedented optical transmission, low reflection, and minimized color distortion,
the panel sets a new standard and brings eye opening experience to users. The standard
surface antiglare treatment makes the panel suitable for most outdoor and indoor applications.
The panel is made of all new materials and processes that make it more durable and reliable.
This provides extra resistance to vandalism and hazardous environments.

The capacitive touch panel consists of multilayer coatings on a glass panel. The layered
structure is shown in figure 2. Transparent conductive coatings are coated on both sides
of the glass panel. Specially designed electrodes are laid around the panel’s edge on top of
the front-side conductive coating to evenly distribute a low voltage across the front-side
conductive coating, creating a uniform electric field. The backside conductive coating is
used for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. A hard coat layer is laid on top of
the front-side conductive coating to provide protection to the front-side conductive coating.
The layered structure is optimized to provide extraordinary optical quality and durability.
Touch Controller
The controller measures the values of the current flow from the four corners and calculates
the X, and Y coordinates of the touch location. The raw coordination data is further analyzed
and compensated to give the optimized linearity accuracy. The controller utilizes its multi-point
linearity compensation function to compensate non-uniformity of the panel. Each panel is
calibrated in factory. Its compensation data is stored in EEPROM of the controller in pair
with the panel and is used for linearity compensation. The compensated coordinates is then
transmitted to the host computer through RS232 or USB interfaces.
Capacitve Touch Screens & Integrated Touch Monitors are used for

Projected Capacitive (PCT) Touch Screen
for touch applications demanding harsh outdoor use
|
|
Works through Glass!! Ideal for Railway Outdoor Kiosk - can use additional
glass in front to avoid breakage of Touch Screen.
Traditional touchscreen sensing technologies, such as capacitive, resistive
and surface acoustic wave are surface-active and therefore, more susceptible
to surface variance effects during the screen's lifetime. Capacitive sensor
arrays are often subject to drift, which means that regular recalibration is
required and consequently, maintenance is more expensive. Resistive touch technology is more prone to damage caused by sharp pointing devices such
as a pen or the corner of a credit card.
PCT eliminates all of these problems by providing a robust, reliable and
calibration-free, non-surface active glass fronted touch solution.
PCT is based on the principle of embedding an array of micro-fine sensing
wires within a multi-layer laminated screen behind a protective front surface,
ensuring that the sensing medium is well-protected from accidental and
malicious damage. This technology is extremely robust and reliable, offers
one of the industry's highest light transmission characteristics and can be operated with a gloved or ungloved hand.
PCT has unlimited touch life, is drift-free, and so requires minimal maintenance.
PCT is currently employed in a wide range of touchscreen-based applications
that require high-end solutions, such as public access information kiosks,
jukeboxes, ATMs, gaming machines and medical and industrial applications.

Flexible Film Projected Capacitive Touch Sensors
- incorporates the patented Projected Capacitive Technology (PCT). |
|
It is designed to be mounted to the rear surface of a rigid transparent substrate (such as glass
or plastic), and operated by touching the front surface of that substrate.
It is an optically transparent touch sensor intended for use in front of an LCD (when mounted to
a suitable substrate).
It is a touch sensor incorporating an integrated rear projection surface intended for use with a
projector (No LCD required).

|
| Application: |
Primarily intended for use in large format interactive digital signage and information systems
found in applications such as retail, advertising and exhibitions.
|
| OPERATION |
The associated electronic controller effectively divides the sensor into pixel-sized sensing cells,
using an array of microfine metal track electrodes, which are not ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) based,
and are virtually invisible when in front of a powered display or rear projection film. These tracks
are connected to the electronic controller board, and an oscillation frequency is established for
each track. Using the theory of capacitance field effect, a touch on the overlay substrate to which
the sensor is mounted causes a change in the oscillating frequency of the tracks around that
particular point; the position of which is then determined by the driver software. Unlike conventional capacitive systems where the operator touches the actual conducting surface of the
sensor, the active component of the flexible film touch sensor is embedded within the sensor and
protected by the mounting substrate.
The driver software allows the touch screen to interface with the host computer’s operating
system by emulating the behavior of a computer mouse, and translates touches into mouse
movements and clicks.
The flexible film touch sensor are available with various surface preparations to facilitate bonding to
the supporting substrate or window. Guidelines on the application these to a supporting substrate
are available upon request.
